The Allende Institute was founded in 1950 by Peruvian artist Felipe Cossío del Pomar.
The institute played a significant part in bringing foreigners to San Miguel and helping build its thriving art scene and community.
Today it offers visual-arts programs, workshops, and Spanish courses.
