A historic church tied to the former San Juan de Dios hospital, founded in 1770 and run by the Juaninos (the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God).

The complex once included the church, hospital, cemetery, and a large courtyard, making it one of the better spots for understanding the social and healthcare side of colonial San Miguel, not just its churches. It sits right next to the San Juan de Dios Market.

Getting there

  • On foot: about 11 min from the Jardín.
  • From the Jardín: take Ruta 4, 6 or 11 at Zacateros (entre Umarán y Pila Seca) and get off at San Antonio Abad (entre Callejón blanco y San Rafael) (1 min walk).
  • From the Jardín: take Ruta 5 at Umarán y Zacateros and get off at Canal y San Pedro (4 min walk).
  • Buses that stop nearby: Rutas 4, 6 and 11 at San Antonio Abad (entre Callejón blanco y San Rafael) (1 min walk); Rutas 1, 2 and 5 at Av Guadalupe y Insurgentes (3 min walk); Ruta 10 at Canal y San Pedro (4 min walk).
